4. Statements by Observers
(from "Chairman's Report of the Twenty-Fourth Meeting")
The Chairman said that in response to requests he would allow observers to
speak at an early part of the proceedings instead of at the end as in previous
years.
Statements were then made by Mr Fitter on behalf of the Fauna Preservation
Society, Mrs McIntyre and Mr Searle for the Friends of the Earth, Mr Platt for
the International Society for the Protection of Animals and Mr Peter Scott for
the World Wildlife Fund.
Statements were made at the end of the meeting by Dr Holloway on behalf of the
International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources and
Mr D. Fonda for the International Institute of Maritime Culture.
Mr Peter Scott made a further short statement on behalf of five of the
conservation organisations.
Dr M. Ruivo spoke on behalf of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the
United Nations.
