15. Participation of Non-Member Whaling Nations

The Chairman referred to the adherence of Brazil to the Convention as from
1 January 1974 and welcomed the Commissioner from that country to the meeting.
He reported that in accordance with the resolution passed by the Commission at
its last meeting he had asked the Secretary General of the United Nations to
address again those nations engaged in whaling activities that are not members
of the Commission requesting that they adhere to the Convention but had had no
response.
A resolution presented by the Commissioner for Argentina recommending the
Chairman to write again to the Secretary General and to write also to the
Secretary General of the United Nations Environment Programme in similar
terms was accepted by the Commission.
