25. RESOLUTIONS ON BOWHEAD WHALES AND GRAY WHALES

The Technical Committee drew the Commission's attention to recommendations
made by the Scientific Committee that:
- (a)
- steps should be taken to limit the expansion of the fishery of bowhead
whales off North America and to reduce the loss rate of struck whales and
- (b)
- that the USA and Mexico should be requested to introduce measures to
counter harrassment of gray whales in breeding areas.
Denmark proposed the adoption of resolutions to support the Scientific
Committee's recommendations and after minor amendments to wording both were
adopted by the Commission. (Appendix 6).
